ABOUT SF DG

The San Francisco Alumnae Chapter was founded in 1911. Today, our alumnae continue to actively support our local collegians and Service for Sight initiatives. The local collegiate chapter is Gamma chapter at the University of California, Berkeley. Members of the San Francisco Alumnae chapter regularly serve on the Advisory Team and House Corporation Board at Gamma. Collumnae events are planned once per semester. In addition, alumnae are encouraged to assist collegians during recruitment through sponsorship and providing helping hands behind the scenes at recruitment events.

FOUNDATION

At the 1936 National Convention, Delta Gamma officially adopted Sight Conservation and Aid to the Blind as our national philanthropy. The San Francisco Alumnae Chapter has developed strong bonds with several Bay Area Service for Sight organizations, allowing us to fulfill our commitment to the fraternity's philanthropy. We work closely with the San Mateo Council for the Blind, an organization whose mission is to promote the independence, equality and self-reliance of people who are blind or visually impaired. Every year we look forward to attending the SMCCB Holiday Party and Summer Picnic. We also support the Blind Babies Foundation by volunteering at their annual Golf Tournament, Easter Beeper Egg Hunt, and Anniversary Gala Fundraiser. BBF is a group that provides family-centered services to infants and preschoolers who are identified as having visual impairments. The SFDGs have also formed a partnership with the San Francisco-based Glaucoma Research Foundation. We support the foundation by attending educational events and working as volunteers for their annual Fundraising Gala.

The Alumnae Chapter hosts two fundraisers each year to support the DG Foundation and local sight related charities.
